Obituary

Astolfo Rios, 72, Passed away peacefully in his home comforted by his wife and family on May 26th, 2025.

Born to Sara Rios in Cuauhtémoc, MX, on September 4th, 1952, Astolfo grew up in the care of his mother alongside his brother, Alfonso. Astolfo later immigrated to the United States in 1979, taking up residence in New Mexico for a short period before moving to Morgan County in 1980, where he would reside for the rest of his life. Astolfo Married the love of his life, Maria Antonia Perez-Minjarez, on December 22, 1996 in Brush, Colorado. Together, they would have two children, Eduardo and Gloria.

Astolfo was a hard worker, and worked locally at the beef plant as well as in construction. He enjoyed nothing more than talking with family and friends over a cold corona beer, and would often prepare carne asada just to bring the people whom he cared about together, but Astolfo did not cook only for family gatherings. His children fondly recall how talented he was at preparing pork chops, liver and onions, and his favorite food to eat was chile colorado with rice and beans. He enjoyed watching baseball, and always rooted for the Atlanta Braves.

Astolfo loved to travel, and would often take his family on long day trips just to get out of the house. His kids remember fondly their family trips to Estes Park, small museums in Nebraska, and drives down to Phoenix, Arizona to visit family friends. He often traveled to Mexico with his family to visit his wife Maria's hometown, and he would always make the entire 16 hour trip straight through, and often with only two stops. He did his best to make the trip quick and efficient, and his kids recall that they would always get in the car shortly after midnight, and that they would be almost all the way through Texas by the time they would wake up. Astolfo also loved music by the artist Gerardo Reyes, and during his final hospital stay he sang "Libro Abierto" to his family.

Astolfo is survived by his wife, Maria Rios; his Children, Eduardo and Gloria Rios; and his grandchildren, Lupita, Andrea, Melody, and Vincent Rios.

Astolfo is preceded in death by his mother, Sara Rios and his brother, Alfonso Rios.
