Obituary

With an adventurous spirit and an unbreakable love for her family, Celia Montes Andavazo lived life on her own terms. Born on May 16, 1981, to Consuelo Montes and Luis Rocha, Celia embraced hard work, independence, and joy in all that she did. She passed away on March 10, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, laughter, and deep love for those closest to her. Celia was a woman of many talents and trades. She built a life through self-contracting, landscaping, painting, harvesting sugar beets and hemp, fencing, and even working as a bondsman and bounty hunter. No challenge was too great for her, and she tackled every task with determination and grit. She was proud of her faith and found community at First Baptist Church in Sterling, Colorado. She was passionate about sports, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and the Colorado Rockies with unwavering enthusiasm. Celia found joy in life's simple pleasures—good food, cold beer, dancing, and the company of her loved ones. She lived by her own philosophy, often saying, "I'd rather live a short life wiping my own ass than a long life of someone else wiping my ass for me."

Celia is preceded in death by her parents, Consuelo Montes and Luis Rocha; her brothers, Luis S. Rocha Jr., Donasiano Rocha, Luis S. Rocha III, and Armando Rocha; and her sisters, Elza Rocha and Gloria Rocha. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth R. Andavazo, Melissa M. Crespin and Alejandra M. Rocha; her sons, Zachary M. Guess, Jacob S. Crespin, and Moses N. Tosi; her brothers, Santos Rocha and Raymond Rocha; her sisters, Julia Rocha, Rose Rocha, Mary L. Rocha, and Sylvia Rocha; and her cherished grandchildren, Mariana C.F. Galvin, Julian B. Crespin, and Monti J. Tosi. Celia also leaves behind her beloved cats, Peaches and Gata, who brought her comfort and companionship.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Celia's fearless spirit, humor, and love for life will never be forgotten.
