IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Florencia R.
Garcia
October 27, 1938 – December 14, 2025
Florencia "Flo" Garcia was born to parents Teodosio and Petra Rodriguez on October 27th,1938. She passed away peacefully on December 14th, 2025. Florencia married Paul Garcia on September 29th, 1963 in Fort Collins, Colorado. They remained together until Paul's passing in 2002.
Florencia came to the United States from Mexico in 1943. She lived in Fort Collins with Paul and her growing family until 1969 when they moved to Wiggins. After Pauls passing, she moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado to be closer to family.
Flo attended night school to further her education and improve her skills and knowledge. She worked as a Teacher's Aide through the Wiggins School District for several years. She then applied for the Nurses Aide position through the Headstart program, which she enjoyed immensely. She also worked at K-Mart and Heinrich's part-time. Not quite ready for retirement, she began working for Walmart. After working for another seventeen and a half years, she made the decision to retire. She always expressed that meeting new people and seeing familiar faces among her "Walmart Family" is why she continued to stay there for so long.
Flo was a faithful member of the Sanctuary Church. Faith, Family and friends were very important to her. She was also known to attend churches throughout the Spanish community. She was called upon to speak and held seminars, conferences, and taught about the women of the Bible. Her faith was a true testament of what she stood for as a faithful servant of God.
Flo was a die hard Bronco and Colorado Rockies fan. She loved attending and cheering on her Rockies! She had the opportunity to see sports events with her grandchildren and friends, even having the opportunity to attend a Broncos game. She was an avid book lover and read all types of books, any kind of reading material. She also enjoyed her music, mostly consisting of genres of Christian music. Flo had an exceptional green thumb, and could grow anything with hardly any effort. She put a lot of work into her flowers and her numerous plants. They brought her great joy and serenity as she could often be seen on a bright sunny day watering and tending to her flowers. She was an amazing cook. She was well known for her tamales and her salsa, which were her signature dishes. Right after Thanksgiving, she would begin to plan and prepare for "tamale season" as she would call it. Even though it was strenuous work, she always made sure her family had tamales for Christmas. These delicacies have become beloved family traditions, and we hope our version will become just as delicious as our mom's. Her greatest joy came from when she began making tamales for Jake Plummer (Bronco). She took great pride in that fact and would often boast that she was Jake's official tamale maker. He autographed a jersey for her out of appreciation, and it was one of Flo's prized possessions. Nobody was allowed to touch that jersey!
She enjoyed traveling, visiting friends and family, and trying new places to eat. Most of all she loved to shop! We think she enjoyed that way too much.Flo had a heart of gold and was thoughtful of others. She lived her life to the fullest. She was full of motivation, inspiration, and helped others when it was needed. Her work ethic was exceptional, hardly missing a single day of work. Flo will be sadly missed, and we have truly lost one of the greats. Her family and her friends have truly been blessed to have such an amazing woman as our rock and as the center of our lives.
Flo is survived by her sons, Abel Garcia and Carlos Garcia, her daughters, Debra Garcia and Hope Garcia, her brother, Hector Rodriguez, 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren, and many more valued friends, not least of which being her best friends, Cindy Sagel of Greeley, Colorado, Mrs. Irene Hernandez of Fort Morgan, Ms. Isabel Acosta of Fort Morgan, Mrs. Norma Granillo of Fort Morgan, Ms. Lourde Flores of Fort Morgan, and Ms. Manuelita Galavis of Mexico.
Flo is preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Garcia, her parents, Teodosio and Petra Rodriguez, her brothers, Martin Rodriguez, Guadalupe Rodriguez, and Antonio Rodriguez, her sisters, Elvira Rodriguez and Andrea Rodriguez, and her granddaughter Shannon Reyez.
At Flo's request, please wear Broncos or Colorado Rockies attire.
