Hermila Macias was born to parents Manuel Gonzalez Duran and Maria Lucia Garcia Olivares on December 28th, 1968, in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico. She passed into the care of our Lord on April 5th, 2024.
Hermila grew up in Santa Rosalina in Chihuahua, Mexico, and as an adult lived in Parral, Chihuahua. In 1997 she moved with her family to the United States, settling briefly in Louis, Kansas before moving to Fort Morgan, Colorado in 1999. She made a home in Fort Morgan and remained there for the rest of her life.
Hermila married Gerardo Macias in the summer of 2013, and he remained by her side until her passing.
Hermila worked as a Farmhand for most of her life, caring for a variety of animals. She worked hard to provide for her family and made sure they never went without, even as a single mother.
Hermila was a devout Catholic all her life, and after making a home in Fort Morgan she found became a regular parishioner of St. Helena's Church.
Above all, Hermila was known for organizing amazing parties. She always insisted that there needed to be a big cake for a party or no party at all, with her favorite kinds of cake being Carrot, Tres leches, and anything other than chocolate. She loved to travel, especially home to Mexico to see family and friends. She would travel twice a year, once in the summer and once in winter for Christmas, celebrating her birthday each year with her husband in Chihuahua. She loved dancing, singing, and music in general. The flowers that she kept were as bright as the music that she loved listening to.
Hermila is preceded in death by her first spouse, Miguel Angel Rivas Alvarado, her parents, Manuel Gonzalez Duran and Maria Lucia Garcia Olivares, and her younger brother, Alfredo Gonzalez-Garcia.
Hermila is survived by her sons, Miguel Ivan Rival Gonzalez and Brett Aaron Rivas Gonzalez, her daughters, Claudia Yadira Rivas Gonzalez and Julyssa Riva Gonzalez, six brothers, one sister, and six grandchildren.
