IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Irma
Hellmuth
October 23, 1930 – September 29, 2023
Irma Hellmuth passed away peacefully with family by her side early Friday, September 29, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Fort Morgan from complications of a gallbladder surgery performed in August.
Irma was born October 23, 1930, in Sterling, Colorado to the late Fred and Mary (Albrandt) Fritzler, who immigrated from Russia. Irma's childhood was difficult, helping with chores on the family farm. Irma was the 8th of 9 children.
She graduated from Sterling High School in May, 1949. On November 27, 1949, she married Albert Hellmuth. Irma made her own wedding cakes for their Dutch Hop reception, which re-enacted their first date, where she and Albert originally met. Albert and Irma spent their life farming together and raising two children (Wayne and Debra). Wayne was born in 1951 and Debra in 1957. In July 1961, Wayne sadly passed away from childhood leukemia, leaving them forever heartbroken. Albert passed away in July 2002 from cancer.
If you were lucky enough to know Irma, you know what a special Angel heaven has gained. She was sharp as a tack, tough as nails and stubborn as all get out, but she gave the very best hugs. She was a true light for all of her (almost) 93 years. Irma was the quintessential Grandma to all who knew her. She baked the best goodies, always fixed our clothes whenever something needed repair, and crocheted hundreds of doilies and blankets. If she wasn't doing any of those things, you could find her watching baseball, the weather channel or doing a word search. She loved her family immensely, but especially had a fierce love and adoration for her 6 great grandchildren, who were the lights of her life. They are so lucky to have known her and been able to spend so much time with her.
Our hearts are broken, but we are at peace knowing she is no longer suffering. She is at last in the arms of her beloved Wayne and Albert, and so many others who have gone before her. We already miss her so much, but we know how fortunate we were to have had as much time as we did with her. She will live on in our hearts and we will keep her memory alive with our stories and pictures.
Irma is survived by her daughter Deb (Curt) Poitz, her granddaughter Callie (Kirk) Crone, her grandson Cody (Caitlyn) Poitz and her great grandchildren: Blakely, Asher, Landree and Dawsyn Crone and Carson and Layla Poitz. She is preceded in death by her parents, her 6 brothers, 2 sisters, her son Wayne and husband Albert.
An interment service will be held on Thursday, October 12th at 10:30 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan followed by a luncheon reception at the Fort Morgan Elks Lodge, 430 State Street where friends and family can gather and share stories and memories of Irma's beautiful life.
