Lawrence Eugene Carroll Sr (Dad, Papa, Uncle Larry, Tio) 74, gained his angel wings Sunday May 17, 2026, at his daughter’s home in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Born September 17, 1951, in Clarksburg West Virginia to the parents of Leslie J Carroll and Melvina L Lyndsey Carroll, he was the 1st of 8 children having 3 brothers and 5 sisters.
Lawrence Resided in Fort Morgan Colorado from February 2013 to present, before this having lived in Texas, Yuma Colorado, Wray Colorado, Minnesota and several other little towns and states like West Virginia and Kansas. He was an honorable man and served in the United States Marine Corps from November 1969 to December 1975. He served 2 years on active duty and 2 years on inactive duty. He entered the Marines as a Private First Class and while enlisted received a Rifle marksman badge and the National Defense Service medal. He Spent 11 months abroad and loved to tell stories of his time in Okinawa such as Suki Ochiai Jolie.
On December 18, 1972, he married Lydia Marie Guajardo in Fort Morgan Colorado. Before his kids were born, he often told us stories of his time working as and EMT and as a Kirby vacuums salesman. In 1974 his first son John Carrol was born, followed by his daughter Theresa Finley in 1974, their son Lawrence Carroll Jr 1978, their daughter Melvina Ramirez in 1980, their son Harold Carroll in 1984, and their daughter LeAnna Carroll in 1987. Lawrence wore many hats, he took college classes at Morgan Community College during this time and obtained his CDL, becoming a bull hauler for several years and later enjoyed his time working at Equity Coop. . As his kids grew up, his wife Lydia became ill and he retired to care for his wife daily, driving her to dialysis and to all the numerous appointments she had, and he even learned how to do home dialysis for her. His wife was his world when she passed away November 23, 2021.
Lawrence (Papa, Dad, Uncle, Tio) was loved by all his Kids, Grandkids, Great Grandkids, nieces and nephews. Many had the joy of spending countless hours doing what he loved most - FISHING! He taught us how to put minnows on the hook, how to get the fish off the hook and even how to tie a slip knot. Everyone enjoyed the late-night fishing trips where he would take us out on his pontoon boat, tie up under the bridge and fish for crappie. Sometimes you would get to hear his version of "Little fishy in the brook please get on my hook." Many fond memories also include times spent on the shores of several lakes in Texas and Colorado and watching him help some of us that were afraid to put live bait on the hook, also even helping to take fish off the hook and getting the line unstuck. Countless memories of what he loved to do the most are sure to be held in our hearts.
Lawrence and Lydia were proud grandparents of 14 Grandchildren which includes Nikell Kalb, Lukas Kalb, Taylor Kalb, Dylan Carroll, Michelle Carroll, Landon Hernandez, Julio Hernandez, Donovan Hernandez, Lydianna Hernandez, Cordell Carroll, Ryan Bell, Richard Bell, Rachael Bell.
