Obituary

Phyllis Darlene Atwood was born May 22nd, 1944 to parents James and Ellen Foster. Phyllis passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 19th, 2024.

Phyllis was born and raised in Wray, but spent most of her time in Brush, Colorado. She married Louis Atwood, and remained by his side until his passing in 1994. Phyllis graduated from Wray High School before attending Morgan Community College to get her licensed practical nursing degree. She worked as a nurse's aide for many years before deciding to become a licensed nurse herself.

Phyllis loved to crochet, Mountain Dew, and especially loved word searches. She would complete them faster than new ones could be brought to her. She was a big fan of watching the Broncos play on Sunday night football in addition to watching her favorite show, NCIS. Her favorite song ever was "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" by Poison. There was little that Phyllis loved more than her family, and she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren the most dearly. She loved spending time with them, and would often have them over to play Super Mario with her on the Wii.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Atwood, her parents, James and Ellen Foster, and her brother, Terry Foster.

Phyllis is survived by her son, Thomas Nathan Atwood, her daughters, Tammy Nannette Atwood and Amanda Louise Atwood, her brothers, Ronny Foster, Jimmy Foster, Gary Foster, Billy Foster, Danny Foster, and Timmy Foster, her sister, Cheryl Rupert, her grandchildren, Kassi Knight, Vanessa Knight, Zach Atwood, Halie Atwood, Teagan Atwood, and her great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Melroy, Nathaniel Knight, Aristea Melroy, Alexandra Knight, Axl Glenn, Alexander Baxter, and Willow Baxter, along with many nieces and nephews.
