IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert
Diaz
June 6, 1946 – October 5, 2024
Robert Diaz was born June 6th, 1946 to parents Ramon and Sarah Diaz in Monterrey, Mexico. He passed away peacefully on October 5, 2024.
Robert married Josie Marlene Diaz on February 23rd, 1977, in Sterling, Colorado and she remained by his side until his passing. Robert and his family were longtime Fort Morgan residents, with Robert graduating from Fort Morgan High School in 1965. Robert served his country in Vietnam from 1965 to 1967, where during his time with the 11th Armored Cavalry Division Robert received 3 Purple Hearts, a National Defense Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, his Sharpshooter Medal for M14 rifle, his Combat Infantryman badge and a Good Conduct Medal. Robert also exhibited a lifetime of hard work outside of the Army, and was well known for his good work ethic. He kept busy doing a variety of jobs, from working with his father doing railroad construction to managing the produce section of Johnson Super Foods. Robert retired from Johnson Whole Foods in 1996.
Robert was a Christian, and enjoyed studying his Bible. He had a kind heart for animals of all sorts, not limited to the birds and squirrels in his yard but most notably his pets who he loved deeply. Robert was a music lover, and while he enjoyed anything that had a good beat, he was particularly fond of oldies, music from the 60's, classic rock, and christian music. Most of all, Robert loved to spend time with his family and his grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his wife, Josie Diaz, his son, Robert Diaz (Jami Diaz), his daughter, Tonia Diaz, his brothers, Benardino Diaz and Joe Diaz, his sisters, Mary Diaz, Mary Ruth "Cookie" Vasquez, Sarah Castillo, and Rose Diaz, and his grandchildren, David Diaz, Riam Diaz, and Rhyker Diaz.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Ramon Diaz and Sarah Diaz, along with his brother Raymond Diaz and his sister Toni Diaz.
