IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Samson Raymond
Ortega Jr.
December 9, 2006 – December 1, 2025
Samson Raymond Ortega Jr. was born to parents Samson Raymond Ortega Sr. and Sophia San Miguel on December 9th, 2006 in Fort Morgan, Colorado. He passed away on December 1st, 2025.
Samson Jr. lived in Fort Morgan, Colorado, for the entirety of his time here. He was proud to graduate from Fort Morgan High School in 2025.
Samson Jr. was known for his trust in Christ as his savior, and always encouraged others to follow Jesus. He wanted others to feel the peace and love that he felt through Christ. Samson Jr. attended Platte Valley Baptist Church for all his life, and everyone there considered him family. He made a point to give to the homeless, and did his best to preach to them and guide them to find the Lord.
As a freshman at Fort Morgan High School, Samson Jr. was on the 2022 state championship football team. Samson Jr. also was an all-star outfielder in baseball, and played both football and baseball simultaneously throughout his athletic career. He went above and beyond as an athlete, providing training and mentorship to other students and athletes. He often helped his coach at Next Level Athletics. He also enjoyed his time spent training in the gym, and his knowledge on muscle groups and fitness led him to become certified as a fitness trainer. Samson Jr. never held a grudge, and had a natural curiosity for everything. He loved listening to music, spending time with loved ones, and drawing. Once he took interest in something, he aspired to know everything that he could about it.
Samson Jr. is survived by his parents, Samson (Yessenia) Ortega Sr. and Sophia San Miguel, his brothers, Sevone Ortega, Antonio (AJ) Ortega, Israel Ortega, Adrian Rios, and Adam Vasquez, his sisters, Serena Ortega, Sureya Ortega, and Yisel Sotelo, his great-grandmother Paposa Segura, his grandmothers, Antonia Segura and Sylvia San Miguel, his girlfriend, Jilliana Perez, along with numerous treasured aunts, uncles, cousins and many more cherished teammates, classmates, peers, and friends, not least of which being his football coach Ty Davies and his baseball coach Josh Langford.
Samson Jr. is preceded in death by his great-grandparents Saba Ortega, Mary Ortega, and Raymond Segura Sr, paternal grandfather, Raymond (Kat) Segura, his maternal grandfather, David San Miguel, his uncle, Benjamin Gay, and his cousins, Rocky Perez, Michael Aguirre, Alexis Cano.
Condolences may be addressed to the Ortega Family c/o Rowanoak Mortuary, 231 S. Sherman Street, Fort Morgan, Colorado, 80701
