IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sherry Dee
Hernandez
April 12, 1965 – December 12, 2024
Sherry Dee Hernandez was born to parents Delvin and Janice Barnhart on April 12th, 1965 in Burlington, Colorado. Sherry passed away on December 12th, 2024.
Sherry traveled extensively, but spent most of her time living in Denver, Colorado where she raised her children. Later in life she settled in Fort Morgan, Colorado where she opened her accounting firm in Brush, Colorado. Sherry's aptitude for numbers propelled her to get her Bachelor's from Denver Business College.
Sherry prided herself on being a traveling tax person and sole proprietorship of Sher's Tax & Accounting. She worked up and down the I-25 corridor, doing taxes for truckers, trucking companies, families and small businesses. Sherry spent time as an employee of Southwest, but after traveling so extensively, Sherry fell in love with the community in Eastern Colorado and decided to settle there permanently. Sherry was proud to have been a member of the Brush Chamber of Commerce and of the Auxiliary VFW. She was a people person and a big giver. Sher was always compelled to give people her time, and more often than not gave even more, and it took no effort at all for her to make you feel like family. Sherry had a real green thumb that she exhibited through the beautiful flowers she cultivated surrounding her home. Accompanied by her beloved Lhasa Apso Taz, Sherry would drive her truck named Betty Boop and the pair would go everywhere together. Sherry was a huge fan of the Denver Broncos, and she loved just about anything to do with them. She also loved to bowl with her team Rainbow Bowling. Sherry was a pillar of her community, and she will be dearly missed by family, friends and customers alike for her bright demeanor and devotion to making a difference in people's lives.
Sherry is preceded in death by her grandparents, Louise and Ira Barnhart and Paul and Iva Scott.
Sherry is survived by her parents, Delvin Eugene Barnhart and Janice Lynn Mayhan, her sons, Levy Jonathan Torrez and James Michael Anderson (Anna), her sisters, Michelle Rae Hedgecoke (G. Scott Mitchell) and Shannon Lynn Mayhan, her uncle, Dan Scott (Vickie), her aunt, Linda Enfield, her grandchildren, John Anderson and Colton Anderson, her niece, Kara Gosset (Paul), her nephew, Stran Thompson (Trinity), and is missed dearly by her cat, Jasper.
The Family of Sherry has requested that Bronco's gear is worn to her funeral service, if you have it available to you.
Written condolences can be addressed to the Anderson and Torrez Family, C/O Rowanoak Mortuary, 231 S. Sherman Street, Fort Morgan, Colorado 80701.
