About Us

Tobias Uhrig has been in the funeral industry for just over seven years, working for some of the most reputable institutions in the nation. His roots are in his hometown of Brush, Colorado, where he worked as a Funeral Service Assistant and Crematory operator. It was in these early years that his dreams of ownership began to grow. After gaining valuable experience, Tobias went on to join the U.S Army as a Mortuary Affairs Specialist. His military career afforded him the opportunity to honor fallen service members while stationed in the 339th Quartermaster Company in South Korea and later at the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.
Tobias also worked evenings and nights for Bennie Smith Funeral Home, a business local to the Dover, DE area. There, he honed skills such as funeral directing and embalming, and later took a full-time position with them alongside his wife, Abigale. Away from home for far too long, Tobias and Abigale decided to return to Colorado, where they both began to work at a funeral home in Greeley.
They kept their eyes open and researched communities that might be in need of a new funeral establishment, and as luck would have it, the community needing the relief the most was Fort Morgan. After making this decision, it was a little over a year before the purchase of their new property was finalized. With plenty of hard work over the course of four months, the previous Church of Christ building was brought to working order, and the two began making a new home for themselves in a community of familiar friends and faces

Our name, Rowanoak, hails from English folklore where rowan trees are seen as symbols of peace and protection, and from American tradition where oaks symbolize strength, stability, and honesty. The name was initially agreed upon by Tobias and his fellow Soldier, Aaron Mitchell, who both intended to open the business as partners after their time in service was complete. Aaron sadly passed in 2019, but his memory and legacy live on through the establishment of this business and the name that he helped to form for it.
Together, Tobias and Abigale are honored to serve their Families, Friends, and the Community with
Compassion, Dedication, and Care.
